BALLOON WILL FLY LOW

St. Louis Man to Cross Illinois in Ruderless Dirigible with Guide Rope.

St. Louis, Mo., Sept. 6. — Albert Bond Lambert, member of the St. Louis City Council and rich manufacturer, who recenly spent several months in France qualifying for a balloon pilot’s license, will make an ascension here Tuesday in the Berry dirigible balloon, without the steering appartus.  He will be accompanied by Capt. Harry B. Honeywell, who piloted the Fielding San Antonio, the successful balloon in the Chicago races of July 4.

Mr. Lambert will carry a trailing device by which he will keep in communication with the ground.  His plans are to make an all-day flight over Illinois.  The flight will be made as low as possible, and the trailer will be used to guide the air navigators.

The low flight will be made as a test for more extensive ascensions now being planned by the St. Louis Aero Club, in which a number of balloons will be used.  These ascensions will probably occur early in October.
